Nicolaus Walter
- Sex: M
- Born: 20 OCT 1829 in Walter (Valder) Russia
- Died: ABT. 1924 in Siberia
- Notes:
Nicolaus' name has changed spelling over the years it seems to
Nicholas.Nicholas & his wife Lizzie(believe her name was Elizabeth) came
from Walter, Russia in the year 1891 and landing in New York. With other
members of the Walter family they took the boat to America. These other
members were as follows, Sons; Jacob Walter Sr., (his wife Katherine
Elisabeht Hill); Conrad Walter; (his wife Mary Katherine Hoffman;their
sons Conrad, Heinrich, their daughter Marie Katherine, and their infant
son Adam who died at sea on the way);youngest son Christian.
Their daughter Mary Magdaline (called Deena) may have come over then
too. But at this time I am unsure.
All documents seem to show that they went to Nebraska first and then
on to Washington. After only approximately 1 1/2 years Nicolaus and
Lizzie returned with their youngest son Christian to Russia. Christian
was not happy about this at the time.
Taken from a certified copy of the Church Records of The Evangel
Lutheran Congregation at Gretschina Luga (Village of Walter), Nicolaus
took his last Lord's Supper before going to America on September 15,1891.
These same records say he was confirmed in 1844.
